St. Catherine's Day Hat Parade 2021
Maria Etkind
This was our first year back after the COVID lockdown of 2020! The theme this year was Pundemic and although some folks followed the theme I think must people just wanted an opportunity to dress up and wear a fun costume! In New Orleans we love to dress up!
The St Catherine’s day parade is a small hat parade held the second Sunday in November as not to conflict with Thanksgiving. This year it was held on Sunday, Nov. 21. at 10:30 am on (St. Charles & Pleasant St., New Orleans, LA), it’s free and open to the public. The parade honors an unmarried woman named Catherine. Claudia Lynch is the organizer.
The parade is a great time to catch up with fellow milliners and artist and have champagne while promenading around the neighborhood. There is also live Jazz music!
I wore a fun feather flower and a graphic dress I bought in London during London Hat Week.
