Easter Parade 2019 "Bringing back the 60's"

This was my first time riding with the Historic French Quarter Parade. The weather was great and my friend and client invited me to ride in her pink Elvis Cadillac. I felt like Barbie! It was great fun!

The Outfit:

I got my vintage dress at Magpie. The dress has a fun Hawaiian pastel 60’s print. Since I was going to be riding in a vintage 1960’s Cadillac I wanted to look MOD and fun. I was inspired by Mary Quant “the queen of the miniskirt” and added white Gucci booties, pink tights and a vintage straw bag.

The Hat:

I blocked the hat out of straw parasisal ( a finely woven straw with sheen, has elasticity, high quality) and cut over 80 goose feathers to create a fun ”fire cracker” feather flower.

St. Catherine's Day Parade 2018

This year I attended my first  St. Catherine's Day Hat Parade in New Orleans. The parade is inspired by the annual event of the same name in Paris, is held the weekend before Thanksgiving.

St. Catherine of Alexandria was an early Christian martyr. She is the patron saint of milliners, seamstresses and unmarried women. 

The winner for best hat was Janet Noble. She will lead the parade in 2019.
